Satya's - H1b Visa Experience [At Chennai]

Hi All,

Sharing my Visa interview experience with you all…

I joined a long waiting queue at the embassy at 1:45pm, i.e 30 minutes prior to my actual appointment time ( i.e 2:15pm) for visa interview.

After I spent around 45 minutes in the queue I reached the main entrance, there I asked to show my Passport as well as my interview appointment letter.

After they verified those, they allowed me to enter inside. In another 10 minutes I was there at checking counter and they verified all of my documents. I noticed that they are very strict about the carrying any mobiles, floppies, CDs, closed covers and Bags etc.

After I completed checking I was sent to a room contains so many people waiting in a queue & I too joined them. After 5 minutes around 3pm one guy called all the candidates, who has a interview appointment at 2:15pm and he asked us to go to the next building. (That was the place where actually interviews were taking place).

After I spent 10 more minutes in the queue, I was asked to submit my DS-156, DS-157, Passport, Interview appointment letter, D.D( for 1400/-), I797 and I129 documents. He kept all those documents in a folder and asked us to wait again for the folder. I sat and was observing the candidates, who are facing the interview and mean while I was waiting for my folder too.

Around 4:10pm, one guy called my name to handed over my folder and guided me to stand at counter no:1 [where I suppose to give my finger prints, I hope this counter is only to take finger prints]. After I spent 5 minutes in the queue at counter No:1 one guy called me and asked me to stand at counter No:2. After I spent 10 more minutes at counter No:2 again I was asked to go to counter No:12, where at last my interview was happened. Visa Officer ( V.O) called me around 4:30pm for interview, below was the conversation between V.O & myself.

V.O: Hello sir, How are you doing?

Me: Hi, Good, How about you sir. (I handed over the folder to him)

Me: Tech…

V.O was very much impressed by seeing that document (Since my current employer has well reorganization in U.S), I showed all my awards & certificate (Specific to My Domain) and explained about them to survive from client letter. Luckily he was also skipped that.

V.O: Can you show me that tax papers of the U.S company?

Me: 126.
